Colligo Networks Releases Offline Clients for SharePoint Users
Version 1.0 of Colligo ContributorTM
for SharePoint® and the free Colligo ReaderTM
for SharePoint® are available to solve
offline SharePoint access
Bellevue, WA, May 15, 2006 - Colligo Networks Inc., a leader in offline collaboration solutions for mobile workers, today announces the availability of Version 1.0 of Colligo ReaderTM for SharePoint® and Colligo ContributorTM for SharePoint®. These products enable users, in an uncomplicated way, to synchronize online content stored in Microsoft Office SharePoint document libraries and lists to their laptop for use when working offline. They are the easiest offline SharePoint solutions to deploy, install, learn and use. Colligo Reader is a free product that enables users to download and view content, while Colligo Contributor allows users to edit content offline then sync changes with the server when they come back online.
“Mobile information workers need to be able to access data, whether they’re working online or offline,” said Tom Rizzo, Director, SharePoint Technologies, Microsoft. “Colligo is building on Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 to help this group of users overcome the challenges associated with seamless collaboration and knowledge.”
The release of Colligo Reader and Colligo Contributor follows an extensive beta program involving over 300 companies. “I’ve been waiting for an application like Colligo Reader for a long time,” says Rob Caron, Content Architect for Visual Studio 2005 Team System at Microsoft in his blog. “I can’t think of how many times I’ve asked someone to send me a document via e-mail because I wasn’t attached to the corporate network...” Dustin Hannifin, in his blog, remarks: “I strongly suggest checking out this product if you’re an avid or diehard SharePoint user.”
Leading SharePoint hosting providers, including 724 Internet Solutions and Frontpages Web Hosting Network, are already including a “Get Colligo Reader” button on their web sites to help users acquire the software when they need it.
Colligo Contributor and Colligo Reader are the lightest weight (4 MB download) .NET 2.0 clients, require no server components and are compatible with version 2 of Windows SharePoint Services and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server. They provide a new level of SharePoint feature support in a client-only implementation, including document and Microsoft Office InfoPath form libraries with custom metadata and views, custom lists and many standard lists including events, issues, links, contacts, announcements, tasks and agendas. The Colligo products extend the breadth of SharePoint content available offline well beyond that of current or announced solutions.
“With the beta testing for its latest products, Colligo was able to generate some valuable market knowledge, and we believe it has wisely adapted its products to reflect this,” said Sara Palmbush, Analyst with The 451 Group, a technology industry analyst company focused on the business of enterprise IT innovation, in her report. This comment appeared in an independent report, titled “Colligo looks to succeed by giving offline support to Microsoft SharePoint,” which was published on April 3, 2006 (see Editor’s Note below).
Colligo Reader provides read-only access to SharePoint content offline and can be downloaded free of charge from Colligo's website. Individual copies of Colligo Contributor can be purchased online at a special introductory price of $99/seat from the Colligo online store. Volume discounts are available for corporate customers. Price quotes and product delivery options can be obtained by emailing sales@colligo.com.
Colligo is currently working on the next version of its offline SharePoint products that will be compatible with Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. Alpha versions of Colligo Reader and Colligo Contributor for SharePoint 2007 will be demonstrated at the Microsoft SharePoint Conference 2006 in Bellevue, WA on May 15-18, 2006.
