Colligo Workgroup Edition allows multiple users to communicate electronically without access to corporate network or the Internet. Mobile workers can set-up a private, secure network directly between their laptops. To fully realize the features and functionality of Workgroup Edition, two or more users must be running it simultaneously. While Workgroup Edition is used most frequently over ad hoc Wireless Local Area Networks (WiFi), it is an IP-based application and therefore operates regardless of the underlying connectivity technology. Workgroup Edition 5 is the most reliable and broadly available peer-to-peer collaboration solution and supports the latest generation of laptops and Microsoft operating systems, including XP and Vista.
Colligo Workgroup Edition is packed with tools that let users interact with their private workgroup community in ways they never thought possible outside of the office. And it is super easy to use. Users are up and operating in just three simple steps, as described below.
Step 1 - Discover
At the click of a button, users can create and use their own WiFi 802.11 ad hoc instant network, however
Workgroup Edition can also be used on a wired
or wireless network in the office. Once an instant network is created, Workgroup Edition automatically discovers other users in the vicinity and then displays their
availability and presence information.

Step 2 - Connect
Mobile workers can authenticate other users and set-up an encrypted connection. Colligo's
patented code word based technology guards against "man in the middle" attacks.
All authenticated users are shown in regular font (as opposed to italics for unauthenticated users) and are connected via a 168-bit SSL encryption, the same level
of security used for Internet banking.
Step 3 - Interact
Users can then collaborate with other users by exchanging files and messages to keep track of ideas, changes, and additions on a real-time basis.
They can chat, interact, or send an electronic sticky note. Users can drag-and-drop files
over colleague names to instantly transfer files to a single user or
they can broadcast files to all authenticated
users. Users can share resources such as printers and other peripherals. Microsoft® Outlook® calendars
can be shared to view free/busy times (without revealing
specific appointments) and to book group meeting. Workgroups can share out Windows® folders
among users on the network. This enables users to act like file servers on the
instant network, so client-server applications (such as
CaseWare® Working Papers) work easily out of the office in a local workgroup configuration.
